Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was an athlete of natural talent who loved to play tough sports games. Her talent for performing perfectly complemented her passion for athletics. As evidenced by receiving nearly every Feis awards for drama and performances in the theater that her nation offered. Maureen was a part of the Abbey Theater by age 14, where she pursued her dreams of the opera stage and classical theatre. Charles Laughton was mesmerized after taking the Maureen screen test. He was fascinated by the beauty of her eyes. Laughton changed her name to Maureen FitzSimons and changed her name from Maureen FitzSimons, to "Maureen O'Hara" and it was a diminutive version of her name. It was shortly before Laughton cast her in Jamaica Inn. Maureen was contracted by Laughton for her upcoming film in America with RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1939). Her contract with Laughton was acquired by RKO following the epic film became a huge success. At 19, Maureen had already been in two major motion pictures in the company of Laughton.
